It's All GOOD!

It's only 4:45 p.m. and I'm sitting her typing in the dark while the rest of my family is all asleep.  Our sleep cycles are all messed up!
What are your thoughts on allowance for your children?  We have done it in the past and it worked for a little while, but eventually everyone stopped doing their chores, or their school schedules would get in the way, so we did away with it.  Lately I've been thinking of bringing that back at least for Lexi.  It wouldn't be anything crazy, just a few bucks when she helps around the house with certain things.  Maybe an allowance will help to motivate her to do more.  I'm worried about that girl!  She is missing so much and that isn't good.  This is suppose to be one of the best times of her life and she is missing it.  Anyway, I'd like to know your thoughts about allowances.  Please share.

Remember last week when I mentioned that the door knob broke completely off the back door?  Well, Kyle had to fix that again this morning.  He did a good job.  The new knob works like a charm!  When he was finished with that, I had Kyle run an errand with me.  When we got back, Kyle went out to edge the front yard, but he needed something from Home Depot so he could get that done.  So, off we went again.  Kyle came home and finished the yard in about 15 minutes!  As soon as he was done with that he went off to his room to rest.  I went out to run a couple more errands on my own.  Now I am home waiting for Danielle to stop by.  I was thinking about what to make for dinner but since everyone is sleeping it might turn out to be an evening snack instead.  I did find this recipe and thought we could give it a try.  It's something I think my family would LOVE, and thought we would give it a try if they would all just wake up.  LOL!

Buffalo Chicken Crescent Ring

  • 15 min prep time
  • 45 min total time
  • 6 ingredients
  • 16 servings

Ingredients:
4 oz. cream cheese (half of 8oz. package), softened.
1/4 cup hot sauce or red pepper sauce
2 1/2 cups chopped cooked chicken (1/2 inch pieces)
1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese (4 oz)
2 cans (8 oz each) Pillsbury refrigerated crescent dinner rolls
1/3 cup crumbled blue cheese

Directions:
Heat oven to 375°F. In small bowl, mix cream cheese and hot sauce until smooth. Mix in chicken and shredded cheese just until combined.

Unroll both cans of dough; separate into 8 triangles. On ungreased large cookie sheet, arrange triangles in ring so short sides of triangles form a 5-inch circle in center. (Dough will overlap; half of each triangle will hang over edges of cookie sheet. Dough ring should look like a sun.)

Spoon cream cheese mixture on the half of each triangle closest to center of ring. Top with blue cheese crumbles.

Bring each dough triangle hanging over side of pan up over filling, tucking dough under bottom layer of dough to secure it. Repeat around ring until entire filling is enclosed (some filling might show a little).

Gently separate dough perforations on top until filling peeks through. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until dough is golden brown and thoroughly baked. Cool 5 to 10 minutes before cutting into serving slices.

We have made some more headway with the wedding plans....

  • Look what we found!!!!  It's 4 feet tall and 5 feet wide.  I thought it would look cool in the gift area at the wedding reception.  The best part, we got it super cheap!  I was thrilled at the price.  Plus we will do a few things to it, so it looks the way we want it to, but that's a surprise.  More on that when we get closer to the wedding day.

It's pretty cool, isn't it!!  We have decided to go ahead and have the reception at a ward building.  That will save the budget and we can do some of the things we want to do.  The one venue Danielle just loved was Regency Gardens in downtown Mesa.  They offered the garden setting outdoors that she wanted and the industrial feel indoors as well....and you get both areas when you book an event there too.  Here are a few photos of the place...

See the gazebo and the black pipes in the ceiling with the brick walls.  That's what my daughter likes!  Danielle loved this place and the initial price was reasonable, BUT...the catch is that you have to use their vendors.  Well, Danielle has specific vendors she wants to use for various things and that isn't going to work.  If you use their vendors it ends up costing you.  Hence the reason we opted for a good old fashioned LDS church building.

Danielle also tells me Chance found a DJ for the reception.  They go to meet with him sometime this week.  That's one thing they both wanted.  I guess they don't want to just pipe the music into the building.  I say, it's their day.  Let them do what they want.  We also have an appointment set to meet up with that family friend next week.  I can't wait to sit down with her to talk and bounce ideas off of her.  Things are coming together nicely and I am so happy about that!

This is going to be a big week for our family.  Kyle gets pepper sprayed as part of his training, I have my presentation, Lexi is finishing up her classes for this session, Kevin has some critical appointments to get through, Curtis has a big meeting this week and his P-day has been moved, Danielle has a busy schedule too...work, school, then flower shopping, the appointment with the DJ, and whatever else she has up her sleeves.  Lots going on, but it's all good!
