What a Day this has been.....

Two Things I am Grateful For:

1) The gifts or talents I have been given, as well as the ones I am trying to develop.

3) My children.  They bring smiles to my face every time I think about them.

Goals for the week:

1)  Make sure I hear back from the specialist at the wholesale flower shop.  He is on the hunt for the perfect shade of peach for me.  I love that he is willing to go above and beyond for me.

2)  Stop and pick up some pipe cleaners in green and white.

3)  Finish painting my headboard and the bench.

4)  Get my living room back in order.  It looks like something out of Sanford and Sons right now.  I have been picking up things here and there and everything has found a landing place right inside my living room near my window seat.  It has to go!

5)  Laundry, Laundry, Laundry!!!

6)  Make sure Lexi gets caught up with her summer class.  She fell behind with Girls Camp.

7)  Clean out the refrigerator.

8)  Pick up dog food.

9)  Frame the photos of Lexi and Curtis

10)  Pay a few bills.

From the Camera:

This girl is home from Girl's Camp!
We are glad she had fun, but we missed her.

From the Heart:

How often do you find yourself in a situation where people are saying mean things about someone else, behind his or her back? It might happen at school, during your soccer or baseball practice, or when you’re playing at a friend’s house.
No matter where it is, it’s easy to give in to pressure and go along with what the people around you are doing and join in criticizing or making fun of someone else. But the kind thing to do in that situation is stick up for the person who is being gossiped about, and find something nice to say about them.

You wouldn’t want your friends or classmates saying mean things about you behind your back, and going along with peer pressure won’t necessarily make people like you better. Refraining from gossip and sticking up for others will make you a more trustworthy person and keep your friendships strong. And when you stand up for someone, you’ll be setting an example and your friends will be encouraged to do the same.

Step It Up If you overhear your friends saying something bad about someone else behind their back, refrain from joining in the gossip. Instead say something nice about the person who they are talking about, and try to change the subject.

Keep It Simple

Be careful of the friends you choose. Instead of hanging out with kids who constantly gossip or make fun of people, choose kind, caring friends.
From the Kitchen:

Mississippi Comeback Sauce
Makes a pint jar full.
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup chili sauce
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- juice of one lemon
Mix all ingredients well and store in refrigerator overnight. It needs to sit to let the flavors become “acquainted”.
Use on EVERYTHING (except cheerios)!

From the Spirit:

“We must remember that much spiritual growth does not occur suddenly but rather through time and experience. The encouraging message of the gospel is that God does not often require us to perform sensational or extraordinary deeds but rather to try to do better today than we did yesterday. He is mindful of our desires, our determination, and our direction as well as of our deeds.”

From the Schmidt's:

It's been a hard week without Lexi home.  I can honestly say, I missed her while she was away at Girls Camp.  Now I know I am going to have  a hard time when we have an empty nest.

I've managed to keep busy with work and a couple little projects I'm working on, plus helping with a friends wedding reception, it's been good.   I'm glad I had these things to keep me busy, but I will be glad to get back to normal again.  I love helping with weddings.  This family I am dealing with really seems to have it together and they don't really need my help.  I'm still trying to figure out why they felt they did.  They really are on the ball with this, and further a head then pretty much every other family I have seen in the past! They are organized and everything.  I have been very impressed with them.  So, they don't need me!  They have this!  Go bride!  AND bride's Mom and Mother-in-law!

I am excited to use fresh flowers for this wedding.  In my opinion, fresh is always best.  It just adds that extra sense of special to a wedding.  Now, don't get me wrong, I love silk flowers too, especially for those hard to find color combinations.  I can't wait to see what I come up with for the bouquet.  Fun Fun!

Kyle has had a busy week this past week.  He went to a concert Wednesday night.  He went to a basketball game last night, and this afternoon he will be attending his girlfriends promotion ceremony for the Army National Guard.  She is being promoted to Sargent today.  This girl is very petite, but tough.  She is an MP (military police) for the National Guard, and for her day job, she is a police officer too.  You wouldn't know it by looking at her because she looks like every other petite LDS girl.  She is also a return missionary and a college graduate.  She served a mission in Idaho and she attended BYU Idaho.  She played college volleyball and softball too.  Her mother also told me she is pretty good on a horse too.  I know, I am rambling.  Sorry.  We are excited for Morgan.

Danielle is keeping busy this summer.  She is working and I believe taking an online class too.  In August she will be going to Montana to spend some time with her boyfriend's family.  I hear Montana is awesome.  I can't wait to see the pictures.  It will be good for Danielle to get away from home for a little bit.  She is having trouble with a new roommate lately.  The new roommate tried to leave a cat in their house for the summer without telling the other two roommates.  The one roommate is allergic.  Their rules on campus state they cannot have anything other than fish.  Needless to say, the roommate got caught by housing and had to get rid or the cat.  This girl says her Dad works for ASU too.  I would think that if you were a relative of a faculty member you would be better at knowing and keeping the rules, but I guess not.  I have a feeling this new roommate is going to cause Danielle all kinds of grief in the future.  Time will tell.

It rained here yesterday.  The radio announced yesterday that it had not rained on June 5th since the 1800's here in Arizona.  Can you believe that?  As Curtis put it in one of his recent letters, the weather here is being bi-polar for sure!  BUT, I am loving it!  I had to go to my bank today and as I was driving past the high school no one was in the pool today.  It was weird for a June day, and it's a brand new pool too.  Hard to believe.  I just hope the weather continues to do this all summer long.  I could really get use to this!  I told Kevin about a month ago that I was going to have to move up north because I didn't think I would be able to make it through another hot summer down here in the valley again.  He just laughed at me.  I was serious!  Thank goodness for the weather, and thank goodness I have been dropping a few pounds.  Another words, I am shedding my insulation!  I'm down 31 pounds now.  I would have never believed it myself.  I never thought this could be possible.  I thought I was destined to remain "fluffy" for the rest of my life, and this diet has literally changed everything.  It's changed the way I think, the way I eat, the way I feel, and the way my clothes fit.  Shoot!  If I'm not careful my pants are going to fall right off my hips.  They almost did the other day.  Thank goodness I was standing in my own living room at the time.   Time to fix that!  LOL!

Well, I should get.  Lots to do around here today.
Take care my friends and we will talk soon.
