Wonderful Neighbors!

Yesterday was an interesting day.  Kevin was told by the pain specialist to call the surgeon.  When he called he surgeon he told Kevin we have done everything we can do for you, BUT....I need to see an MRI, and let me talk to the pain specialist and I will call you on Monday.  No phone call on Monday.  NOTHING!  What the heck???

The pain specialist up'd Kevin's pain medication the last time we were there, but failed to write the prescription for enough pills to compensate for the increase.  SO, guess what.????  Kevin is out of medicine.  Which is NOT good.  Not good at all.  Yesterday Kevin called the pain specialist again.  No answer.  So, he left a message.  No return call either.  I am not a happy camper!  Seeing Kevin in pain is not good.  BUT being the one in pain, well lets just say, that sucks!

Curtis has really been a trooper dealing with his Grandma and her surgery.  Then dealing with her animals too.  He is a silly kid most of the time.  He loves to joke and tease.  BUT, he has a tender heart.  It's cool to see.  His Grandmother said Curtis has been awesome.  This has been a good thing for him.  The best is yet to come.  She plans to go straight home after surgery.  No extended care facility for her.  So, Curtis will be going to stay with Grandma for a few days.  At least until she can get up and around more.

I have to say, we have seen more ward members on our front porch or in our yard these past couple of days than we have ever seen before.  Don't get me wrong, we are started to get better at this receiving thing.  A ward member/neighbor brought yummy cupcakes over Sunday night.  They were awesome!  Then I came home from work yesterday to another member/neighbor mowing our yard.  It looks awesome!  Then we had dinner brought over to us.  It was awesome!  AND our Bishop's wife called and offered to help out with the upcoming wedding any way she could.  Which also is awesome!  What can I say?  They have been totally amazing!  I cannot thank them enough, and I'm pretty sure this is not the last you will be hearing me say this.  They are great!

They have also been helping another family in our ward too.  They were recently in a really bad car accident and they need everyone's love and support.  Some of you may have caught the news report about the accident about a week ago.  I really do not feel comfortable sharing all the details of their tragedy at this time. What I will say is this, my heart goes out to this little family.  I wish them the best and I know they are cleaving to the knowledge of the Plan of Salvation and the comfort that knowledge brings.  What a blessing it is.

It is simply amazing to me to see so much service in one small neighborhood.  No big production like you would see those involved in so many of the causes you hear about on the news.  Just simple people helping those in need and not expecting anything in return.  And I'm sure these opportunities to serve do not always come at the most opportune time for those giving.  I think that is why it is called service.  If it was easy they would call it donating.  Service means you have to give something of yourself while doing it.  Service means hard work sometimes.  I looked the word up in the dictionary.  Here is what I found....Service:  the action of helping or doing work for someone.  I totally agree.  :)

It's now 9:30 p.m. and I still need to get something to eat and some laundry going.  Not to mention about 1/2 a dozen other chores done.  I'm certain they will have to wait until tomorrow.  I hope you have had a great day.  Take care and we will talk to you soon. Good night!
