And it's only Wednesday!

This has been a strange day.  My stomach is all jacked up.  I have an appointment with a gastroenteritis coming up, so I'm sure he will get to the bottom of the problem.  (No pun intended)  Until then, I suffer and I have been home sick, again.  ARG!!!  Every time I turn around I am running for the bathroom. NOT FUN!  I also have some more lab work to get done and an ultrasound to have done too.  Will the fun never end?  Apparently not yet.
On to nicer things....We have the flowers for my nephew's upcoming wedding.  Take a look...

This is just a couple top views of the flowers in the bucket.  There are so many flowers here.  If you could see what is oozing out the sides too.  These photos just do not do them justice.  Here is another top view....

I put them all in a huge Rubbermaid bucket/tote.  Then I had to find a place to put them so no one would get into them or dump them over.  I decided to put them in my window seat.  See below...

This photo really doesn't show how massive the bucket is.

Neither does this one...

In this one, they really look kind of small...

This one you kind of get the idea...
There you go...a better view.
I guess we will have out hands full in the next couple of months.  This wedding is in August, but I should have another one in July too.  The July wedding is much smaller and in turquoise, gray and white.  The July wedding there is the bride, the throw bouquet, three bridesmaids, and 5 boutonnieres.  For the August wedding there is the bride, 8 bridesmaids, the groom, 8 groomsmen, four fathers/grandfathers, four mothers/grandmothers, a table arrangement for the food table or something, AND we are making 4 foot tall trees for centerpieces.  I have 16 number 10 size cans we are using as a base.  We planned on about 8 for centerpieces and possibly other tables, BUT I thought we should make a few more just in case they need filler for other areas.  Maybe we can make a couple even taller than 4 feet.  We will see.  Now all I need are the branches. I love weddings.  Weddings are my obsession and they are such happy occasions and that makes me happy.

Danielle was home from work today and took Curtis down to the DMV.  Thank goodness.  So glad she was here to do that. Crossing our fingers.  A couple more steps towards the mission papers!!  YEAH!!  Love it!  Hopefully we will have more news tomorrow...BIG NEWS!!  Crossing fingers, crossing fingers!!!  He needs this!

Kyle is still working full-time and training for his weight lifting competitions.  He has a competition coming up in about a week in Flagstaff.  Then the National Competition in July in Salt Lake.  Hopefully we get to go to both.  We will see.  Kyle recently accepted a calling in the singles ward he is attending.  He is one of the assistant ward clerks.  It's interesting to see how certain things happen or work out for our children.  Kevin and I were talking about this earlier today.  Kyle was promised certain things in his Patriarchal Blessing, just like our other children were promised certain things too.  The callings and responsibilities he has had will eventually help him with some of the things promised in that blessing.  Just like these things for all of our other children.  (Lexi still needs to get her blessing.)  It's fun to watch as these things unfold before our eyes, even when our children cannot see it.
Danielle started her summer job yesterday.  She is working at a Target store out east.  This should help her take care of her expenses until her other job starts again in the fall.  She usually works at an elementary school during school.  The principal and a few of the teachers have been begging Danielle to change her major AND to come back to work with them next fall.  They really like her.

Let me tell you a little story about this principal and our son Curtis.  We use to live out east near the school Danielle is working at.  In fact, Lexi and Curtis attended the school for a couple of years while we lived out east.  Curtis went to 4th 5th and 6th grade at this school and Lexi went to 2nd 3rd and 4th.  Now before I go any further let me just say, Curtis has a flare for the dramatic sometimes and Curtis really had a hard time during 5th and 6th grade.
He stopped doing his homework and he really didn't like the teachers AT ALL.  So, we spent some extra time with the teachers on the phone a couple times and at parent-teacher conferences discussing Curtis. Each time the teachers knew Curtis was a smart kid and could certainly do any and all of the homework, because he knew the material every time.  He just would not buckle down and do the homework.  It was so frustrating.  Even though he would not do his homework, not to brag, but this was the kid that was invited to the test for the gifted program for a few years.  This was the kid that got invited to the engineering group  through ASU in Junior High.  We all knew he has the potential....he just refuses and/or would never admit he even HAD homework.  Honestly, I believe this was the start of the gray hair I have that gets covered up by the Loreal hair color I use.  (if you only knew how much gray I really have....I am even shocked by the numbers)...........Back to my story.  When Curtis was in 6th grade his teacher tried to talk to him about NOT doing his homework.  At the time he was feeling bad and made the flip statement, "Why don't I just go kill myself?"  Well, off to the Principal's office he went.  She talked to him and knew right off the bat that this comment was just a flip statement, but procedures are procedures, and we the parents got called down to the school.  The principal being Danielle's now boss.  As you can imagine, we were mortified and scared at the same time.  We didn't know that this was just a flip statement until we arrived at the school.  As soon as we walked into the Principal's office Curtis turned to Kevin and said, "I'm sorry, Dad."  At that point we knew he was fine.  That kid!  After that we spent about 15 minutes with the principal talking and she knew he was just making a flip statement too, but she still had to follow through.  SO, if she can still LOVE Danielle as much as she does even after this and many other stunts pulled by my children, that truly is awesome!  Danielle loves working at the school.  She recently started working with the special needs kids.  The whole reason Danielle is staying at the school is for this one student.  He really likes Danielle, his mother likes Danielle and insisted that she stay and move up a grade with her son.  The special needs teachers love Danielle, the office staff, as well as the children.  It's awesome....a complete turn around from her previous job.  Who knows maybe she will eventually change her major so she can work with the special needs kids.  She seems to have a knack for it.  This one little boy, in particular, is a tough kid.  He can get violent when he gets mad and he will be in 4th grade, but Danielle can keep him focused and get his work done.  He use to have about 5-6 hours of homework each night.  Now, he only has a couple because Danielle gets him to work.  This little boy has a sister too.  So, this helps relieve some of the stress the family has on them to help this boy progress.  What Danielle does makes a difference, and I love that!  She made a difference with her previous job, but the staff drama far outweighed those moments when she felt like she was helping someone.  Danielle has made a complete 360 degree turn around herself.  Work was stressing her out.  Work was making her physically ill.  Work was very difficult for her.  So, this mother is glad to see her finally find a place she feels needed, productive, loved and that is a good thing.  OH....she is going to kill me for sharing this, but.....she is even dating again.  No one serious or anything like that, but dating.  She went out with a nice LDS young man last night.  He is a recent convert.  His conversion story is pretty cool, but that is all I am going to say about that.

Lexi, Lexi, Lexi........she has a busy summer coming up.  She has girls camp next week.  Can you believe she is a fourth year?  I sure can't!, weight lifting/conditioning everyday, and volleyball practice everyday.  Then we are hoping she gets to go to the libero training camp at ASU this summer too.  Next year she will be a Sophomore in High School!  (I can't take it...my baby!!)  Then she informed us that she CAN get her driving permit on December 24, 2014 too.  I can hardly stand it!  MY BABY!  My little Lexi!!!!  OH MY GOSH!!!!  Talk about stressing me out.

Even the dog has been a little stressed.  The boys are trying to get this hound dog accustomed to water, of all things.  He is a hunting dog by nature and water should be something he loves, but it's not.  So, the boys have tossed the dog in the pool a couple times.  This was the dog Monday....

They had to show him how to walk the wall to get to the steps.  He hated the water.  Poor puppy.  But, I want him to get use to the water and learn to like it.  I guess it will just take some time.  At least he is not freaking out.
Tonight Kevin ended up in the E.R.  He needed some pain management.  Fun, fun.  His next appointment is next week and he was out of pain medication, so the E.R. was the only option.  Kevin got a little good news recently too.  Which is awesome.  All-in-all, things are looking a little brighter for the Schmidt family.  Of course, we are in no way out of the woods yet, but we do see the blessings along the way, and that is a very good thing.
